NY Why should you help? Unfortunately, few of us can say that we do not know someone affected by breast cancer. In order to make Weekend For A Cure a huge success, we need the support of people like you! Your participation will be essential in helping us reach our goal! In the United States today, 1 in 8 women have a lifetime risk of developing breast cancer. On Long Island, the risk is considerably higher than the national average. Breast cancer affects both women and men, and the disease is on the increase. Carol Baldwin, herself a breast cancer survivor, created the Fund in 1996. Carol and her family, Alec, Beth, Billy,Daniel, Jane and Stephen believe that the key to the cure for breast cancer lies in research. The Baldwin Fund's efforts translate directly into grants being awarded to researchers working tirelessly to ensure that the more families will not face the diagnosis of breast cancer. The Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund, Inc is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization whose mission is to raise public awareness of breast cancer prevention, and the funds necessary to research the cause, treatment and ultimately, the cure. "Together, We will find a cure!" Lighthouse Harley-Davidson presents the first annual WEEKEND FOR A CURE 2005 - A weekend long celebration including a Black Tie/ Black Leather Gala, Motorcycle Rally, a 2.5 Mile Walkathon, a Music and Entertainment Festival with non-stop music, entertainment for the entire family, vendors, food and much more!
